Wizard of Oz Costumes
"at Ozcostumes.com , I stumbled across this description: "Hand-covered ruby shoes - glitterized
fabric with -inch sequins - durable fabric takes abrasion well." They looked like the real ruby
slippers, and cost a mere $45 [for childrens shoes]
I phoned the site's owner, Christina Bratcher, who said she has a lot of experience in the Dorothy
department because she makes costumes for the annual Wizard of Oz festival in her town of
Chesterton, Ind. "Some of the original Munchkins still attend," she said.
Ms. Bratcher said she would be happy to exchange the ruby slippers if they didn't fit.
I ordered size 12. Meanwhile, my husband was coveting a mask of a rat eating a man's head
So we may have to move again. Kansas?"

The Ruby Slippers in L. Frank Baum's book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Ruby Slippers in the 1939 MGM classic film, The Wizard of Oz
The first time we see the Ruby Slippers in the film is on the feet of the wicked witch that Miss Gulch transforms into as she's flying on her broomstick outside Dorothy's house
Next we see the Ruby Slippers in the film is when Glinda, the Good Witch of the North points
The next scene in which the Ruby Slippers appear is when the Wicked Witch of the West arrives in Munchkinland to confront the person who killed her sister. Glinda asks the Wicked Witch of the West, "Aren't you forgetting the ruby slippers?" The Wicked Witch of the West replies, "The slippers--yes, the slippers!"
They're gone! The ruby slippers--what have you done with them? The scene in which the Ruby Slippers next appear in the movie is when the camera pans down to Dorothy's feet wearing the Ruby Slippers as she steps onto the Yellow Brick Road to begin her journey to see the Wizard.
Next, the Ruby Slippers appear in the scene at the gates of the Emerald City. When the doorman asks Dorothy to prove that she was sent by the Good Witch of the North to see the Wizard, the Scarecrow chimes in and says, "She's wearing the ruby slippers she gave her!" The camera pans, again, to a shot of Dorothy's Ruby Slippers.
